3rd Annual Day of Dreams Telethon

We are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Day of Dreams Telethon! WSFA has graciously offered to host a telethon on behalf of Mercy House and MAP Center Ministries. We are so excited about what the Lord will do through this event through the hearts of the residents in this community! Ephesians 3:20 proclaims “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” We have claimed this promise for West Montgomery and are praising The Lord in advance for all He is going to do through this 3rd Annual Telethon.

Since 2004, MAP (Ministry About People) has been making a difference in our community. Mercy House became a 501c3 in 2018 and celebrates its 5-year anniversary! We have been committed since that time to walk with our neighbors through their struggles and find resources that truly make a difference in their lives. We feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and share about the One that can truly restore a life, Jesus Christ. Can you believe what all the Lord has done in 5 years?

 Mercy House/MAP’s mission is to provide holistic services and essential life skills to underprivileged individuals, so they are prepared to achieve self-reliance for themselves and their families. We are ending the food line. Mercy House celebrates 5 years in ministry on October 3rd. Through love and mercy, we are redirecting lives in Montgomery. We have served over 300,000 hot meals since 2018. Thousands of families experiencing hunger and poverty have received emergency groceries from our food pantry. Through the MAP Youth Navigation Program, we have continued to provide hundreds of youth a safe place to play and learn throughout each summer. We provide Homework Help, Tutoring, and a Strong Enrichment After School Program in a Faith-Based Environment. Through our Care Coordinator Program, we have served and met the needs of over 200,000 of our neighbors in our first five years.  The Mercy House is a Day House providing showers, hygiene needs, a clothes closet, and more. For over 20 years, we have been consistently serving the least of our neighbors in Montgomery. Today, the MAP Youth Navigation Center serves 200 students. Each day, we pick up from 10 different schools and take each child home afterward. We serve children from K-5 through High School, many of whom would have no other tutoring option or program to join. “We are amazed at the significant programming and services MAP offers to change the trajectory of so many lives on a limited budget,” said Mark Bunting, General Manager of WSFA. “Our WSFA team is honored to continue partnering with MAP to bring opportunity and build a stronger community.” WSFA News will provide live updates from the telethon starting at 6:00 am on Today in Alabama and WSFA News at 6:00 pm.

The needs are many! Over the years, MAP has picked up thousands of children from 10 schools, tutored them, and taken them home 5 days a week. With your support, we can continue to provide professional teachers, specialists, and mentors delivering innovative programs, expand facilities with a gym, classrooms, and spaces providing a safe place for youth. Plus, hundreds of meals each day, program coordinators, day & evening, adult Continued Learning/GED, skill development, career preparations, and Youth Hub personnel providing a safe place for Teens 7 days a week. You can be a part of the Day of Dreams Miracle! We implore all residents to tune in on October 3rd and give generously.

The MAP Center is a place that meets people where they are and gives them the opportunities and support they need to realistically change their lives both physically and spiritually. With your support, we will continue to provide over 200 children daily with excellent professional teachers, the best curriculum with supplies, and a strong, nurturing learning environment. We don’t stop with the children. Our adult education program is equipping parents with great opportunities to provide for themselves and their families. “Through the many arms of this ministry, thousands of people's basic needs are met each week. The Youth HUB will also provide a safe environment 7 days per week for teens to enjoy while being off the streets and in the presence of mentors,” said Pastor Ken Austin. “Our success is built on a foundation of prayer, hard work, and community partnerships and support.” MAP recognizes that strong communities are built from within first and then by partnering with like-minded people to give of their time, talents, and resources.

The needs are many! The cost to do this work still doesn’t cost anywhere near as much as it costs not to do it.

●      Call, text, or email 10 people and share with them about our Day of Dreams Telethon. Have them mark their calendar for Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm.

●      Share the Mercy House Facebook post with your social media friends.

●      Pray BIG Prayers claiming Ephesians 3:20 over our ministry.

●      On October 3rd, encourage people to tune in to WSFA and see what God is doing for His children in West Montgomery through Mercy House and the MAP Center. Make your pledge during the telethon by calling the phone number provided by the WSFA 12 News broadcast
