Tuesday Nights at 6:00 pm

On Tuesday nights, there is a Bible study at New Walk of Life Church right here on Council Street. In some ways, it is probably a lot like other bible studies that you have been to. We pray, we study God’s Word and we pray some more. Our group is full of people that are broken and redeemed. We are from different backgrounds, different ages, and different stages but we are bound together tightly by a common gold thread. We have all had times of financial concern, regardless of our bank balance. We all know people who are sick or hurting that need prayer. We all have had a time of loneliness when we just needed reassurance. Even though we may be in different places, we have everything in common - well, we have everything the Lord wants for us in common. We all are trying to live a life worthy of the gift of salvation that God has offered to us.

Some of us have scars from our past that are very visible but we wear them as testimonies of God’s grace. Some of us can hide our stories and struggles more easily but during this time each week, we don’t have to. We read God’s Word and confess our sins in the complete confidence that Jesus’ forgiveness is absolute and His teaching is strong enough to carry us through anything we might face in this life. I am just going to say it - “These Tuesday nights are special”.

God has created an anointed place in which the Holy Spirit can work. Maybe God is more visible here because of the history of this church and the role it played back in the 1960's. It was a true sanctuary for the brave men and women during the bus boycott. Maybe we can see God a little easier here because we can be ourselves, sinners who can’t seem to get it right and sometimes we don’t even want to try and get it right. And maybe God just feels more real here because on Council Street, in West Montgomery, the people need Him a little bit more. They rely on His daily provisions. They require His mercy to get through the day and they remember exactly Who it is that is making a way for them.

When we gather on Tuesday nights, we come with expectant hearts. We come in complete confidence that whatever we are going through, whether it is finding hope, finding forgiveness, or finding the strength to get through our trials, we have come to the One who can not only do great work in us but wants nothing more than to make us great in His name. So, if you have felt a little detached from God, maybe you are a little numb to the fact that God, the creator of the universe wants nothing more than to spend time with you, or you are just really needing a true encounter with the Spirit of the Lord, please join us on Tuesday nights at 6:00. There is always room for one more.

God Bless,
Kim Boston
